HOW ARE HAULMARK TRAILERS CONSTRUCTED?
Depending on the size of the trailer, the frames are 3, 4, 6, or 8-inch tube construction frame rails for strength. All frames are built on squaring jigs to insure they are straight, true and square. The Crossmembers are set at 12, 16, or 24-inch centers once again, depending on size and the customers preference. Door and window frames are metal. All trailer frames are welded.
WHAT KIND OF ROOF IS ON HAULMARK TRAILERS?
All Haulmark trailers have a one-piece aluminum roof, or galvanized steel roof over heavy-duty 18-gauge roof bows. This roof will give years of trouble free service.
ARE THESE TRAILERS REALLY SECURE?
In today’s world, as you know, if someone wants something bad enough, they will figure out a way to get it, but Haulmark tries hard to make their trailers as secure as possible. They use tamper resistant fasteners on all doors and windows. These make it more difficult for someone to break in.
HOW ARE D-RINGS AND E-TRACK MOUNTED IN THE TRAILERS? WHAT ARE THEY?
All these are mounted to steel plates under the trailer, or directly welded to the frames. You will not pull these thru the floor.
The D-rings are rated at 5,000 lbs. and are used to tie down vehicles and cargo. The E-track is mounted on the wall or floor (to the frame) and can be used to tie down vehicles and cargo, but is only rated at 250 lbs.
I AM GOING TO HAVE MY TRAILER WIRED FOR ELECTRICITY, HOW IS IT WIRED.
The wires will be run thru grommets when they go thru wall, floor, or roof frame members. This is done to reduce chaffing and short circuits.
WHAT IS THE PHYSICAL ELECTRICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TOW VEHICLE AND THE TRAILER?
As far as the physical connections between the tow vehicle and the trailer, this is done one of two ways. One is by way of a 4-pin flat electrical connector that will power only the lights of the trailer. Two is by using a much heavier 7-pin round RV connector. This will not only control the lights, but also the electric brakes when used with an electric brake controller.
WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS OF A CUSTOM TRAILER?
If during the process of you and your sales consultant working out a trailer, if you ask for something not available, he will tell you. If you are building something to submit on our website, and there is something you can or cannot have, you will be contacted by a sales consultant. They will go over the entire order prior to it being submitted to make sure there are no problems.
I HAVE A DRAWING OF WHAT I WOULD LIKE MY TRAILER TO LOOK LIKE, WILL THAT HELP, CAN THEY USE THAT?
Absolutely, the engineers like to see that. It makes their jobs easier. The more detail, the better.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN .030, .040, AND .050 EXTERIOR WALLS?
Each one is thicker than the other is and is stronger and will support the walls better. The only color the thicker metals come in is black and white.
If your trailer exceeds 18” in extra height, you will be asked to upgrade the exterior walls for more support. Also something to think about, if you order a black trailer, and you get the thicker metal, you will find it does not wrinkle as much or is as noticeable.
WHAT ARE HAT POSTS, AND NASCAR HAT POSTS?
Hat posts are the sidewall support beams that the interior and exterior walls are connected to, as well as the floor and roof beams. The reason they are called hat posts is that if you lay them flat on the floor and look at them from floor level, they look like a top hat.
NASCAR hat posts are larger and heavier and when required are at 12 or 16 on center. If your trailer exceeds 18” of extra height, you will be required to have NASCAR hat posts for the necessary support.
WHAT IS LAUAN?
Lauan is exterior grade plywood. Typically 1/4 inch or 3.6 mm thick. Flexible and durable it does not add a lot of weight to the trailer.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO AIR CONDITION, HEAT AND INSULATE THE TRAILER?
This is done when the trailer is being built. You can get roof air and heat, plus insulate the entire trailer.
Air curtains are also available so you could leave the doors open and not lose as much of the temperature as you would if it was just a big open hole.
CAN I GET A BLUE PRINT FOR THE CUSTOM TRAILER I ORDERED?
Some of the more custom trailers will get a set of prints, they are not blue prints per-say, they are a drawing by an engineer who works for Haulmark. These will be faxed to your sales consultant, who in turn will fax them to you.
You may make all the necessary changes you like, and fax the drawing back to your sales consultant and he will send it back to the plant for approval. This may happen several times to make sure both you are happy and the plant you want it built at, can build it.
In stock trailers can be picked up within 48 hours of purchase at the factory. All other orders will be processed and can be picked up when the trailer construction is complete.
